What Ray’s Been Up To!
July, August and September 2014
Ray not only hates the uniform this year but says he will not under any circumstances work at the Guerilla Garden Cafe next year! He says there are rats running around and they were the ones that ate all the peas and the corn. My husband is less than enthused about this as it means Ray will probably be hanging out all unemployed on our back porch again this winter.
June 2014
Ever since the Guerilla Gardener has found a new job it seems like Ray has been hanging out with some dirtbags from Little Mountain Greenhouses. Coincidence? I think not.
May 2014
Ray has been seen hanging out with Nadine on the Guerilla Gardener’s back porch. He looks a little green and she looks like she could be a bad influence. Ray says he is just trying to get her to sign up for a community garden plot. Let’s hope he gets it together for the Spring Opener at the Sunshine Community Garden on May 24th!
December 2013-March 2014
Ray is missing. Is he on holidays? Is he visiting relatives? Hopefully he will be back soon as spring is almost here and there is a lot of work to be done at the Sunshine Community Garden.
November 2013
Ray and Brenda Dyck from the Guerilla Garden Cafe at the Sunshine Community Garden in Chilliwack came in 2nd place for the largest pumpkin at 74.2 pounds. Not bad considering that the pumpkin plants weren’t planted until July. I guess that is why they call them Atlantic Giants!
October 2013
You can’t tell by the picture but this pumpkin is huge!
The seeds came from the seed kit that Ray received when he entered the
Operation Pumpkin Patch contest at the Sunshine Community Garden.
September 2013
The pumpkins vines are taking over The Guerilla Garden Cafe!
August 2013
Ray got a job working at the Guerilla Garden Cafe in the Pumpkin Patch at the Sunshine Community Garden!
July 2013
Ray is just chilling in his plot at the Sunshine Community Garden until it’s time to go to the pumpkin patch.
Oh Ray!
I know crap happens but how much organic fertilizer did you use!
Things are filling out nicely at Ray’s Community Plot at the Sunshine Community Garden!
Operation Pumpkin Patch Plot #20 is ready for planting!
It’s pretty late in the season and the soil has so much clay in it that on a dry day you almost need a jack hammer to try and turn the soil over. When it gets wet it’s like shoveling cement. Instead of doing the back breaking labor of improving the entire 9x25ft plot, a husband was recruited to dig a trench and 3 large holes and fill them full of crap! A “Guerilla Garden Suspect” then planted some corn in the crap filled trench across the back of the plot and Ray has been doing some calculations for how many pumpkin plants per crap filled hole will be needed.
June 2013
Ray’s Community Garden Plot is starting to fill out
Ray has finally made an appearance at the Sunshine Community Garden!
Pumpkin seeds are now started in a plastic shoe box at a “Guerilla Garden Suspect’s” house.
Ray and a “Guerilla Garden Suspect” have joined forces to participate in CSCL’s newest BIG Green Challenge.
Operation Pumpkin Patch is going to be held at the Sunshine Community Garden.
This is the Kit they received.
May 2013
Ray has set up his plot at the Sunshine Community Garden like a square foot garden but no one has seen him.
I wonder if there are seeds planted in the empty spots?
There was confirmed Ray sighting of him on shopping spree with a “Guerilla Garden Suspect” and the“Pallet Gardener” at Devon Greenhouses.
Ray rented a plot at the Sunshine Community Garden and has yet to do anything with it. However, there is a rumor of a planned plant shopping spree at Devon Greenhouses for later in the month.
